End of Daylight-Saving Time Triggers Nationwide Bus-Timetable Shift
Clocks in Finland moved back one hour at 04:00 on 26 October as the country reverted to Eastern European Time. Inter-city operator Matkahuolto pre-published adjusted night-bus schedules—covering routes from Helsinki to Turku, Tampere, Vaasa, Porvoo and Rovaniemi—to avoid missed connections with early-morning flights and ferries.

The most critical change for mobility managers: the Finnair Bus from Turku now departs at 04:20 daylight-saving time but arrives at Helsinki Airport at 04:10 standard time, effectively running ‘backwards’ through the clock change. HR teams relocating employees from regional cities have been advised to reissue travel briefs to prevent no-shows.

Matkahuolto’s operations centre confirmed that GPS tracking and driver apps were updated automatically, but manual diary entries—common among small relocation agencies—require attention. The company’s customer-service line extended Sunday hours to handle itinerary queries.

While EU plans to abolish seasonal clock changes remain stalled, Finnish transport analysts estimate each switch costs the sector up to €400 000 in rescheduling and overtime. Businesses organising group moves or orientation tours in late October should therefore factor in potential knock-on effects for rail and domestic flights.
