Emirates Airline marked the 40th anniversary of its very first commercial service—Dubai to Karachi on 25 October 1985—by flying a retro-fitted Boeing 777 with its new Premium Economy cabin back to Karachi for a showcase event attended by Pakistani officials, UAE diplomats and aviation executives.
The carrier revealed that it has transported more than 19 million passengers on the Dubai–Karachi route alone since 1985 and now serves 140 destinations worldwide. Executives used the anniversary to highlight forthcoming fleet investments and the planned migration of operations to Dubai’s Al-Maktoum International, where a 128-billion-dirham terminal project is under way.
