IndiGo launches Kolkata–Siem Reap route, giving India its first direct air link to Cambodia

IndiGo Airlines on 13 November 2025 operated its inaugural flight 6E 1655 from Kolkata to Siem Reap, opening India’s first non-stop connection to Cambodia. The thrice-weekly service (Monday, Thursday, Saturday) departs Kolkata at 01:50 and lands at 06:20 local time, returning as 6E 1656 at 07:20 and arriving 08:55. Siem Reap becomes IndiGo’s 46th international and 140th overall destination.

For Indian leisure travellers, the route slashes total journey time to Cambodia’s Angkor Wat gateway by 4–6 hours and eliminates the need for Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh City layovers. Cambodia grants visa-on-arrival to Indians, making the itinerary paperwork-light for short vacations and MICE groups.



Tourism authorities in both countries welcomed the launch. The Cambodian Ministry of Tourism projects a 35 % rise in Indian arrivals in 2026, while West Bengal’s government expects higher Southeast-Asia traffic to boost Kolkata airport’s hub ambitions. Travel analysts say the link will also help SME exporters in eastern India reach Cambodia’s growing garment and agri-processing sectors without trans-shipping freight through Singapore.

IndiGo is offering introductory return fares from ₹18,500 and has partnered with Cambodia’s e-visa portal for bundled ticket-plus-visa deals. The airline hinted at potential frequency increases “if load factors stay above 80 %”, and is studying an extension to Phnom Penh.

For businesses managing regional mobility, the flight gives employees a same-day arrival option for client meetings in Siem Reap or quick onward hops to Phnom Penh via domestic carriers—reducing per-diem costs and minimising time away from base.
