VINCI Airports and GOL Linhas Aéreas unveiled a second “bank” of evening connections at Salvador Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães International Airport on 1 April 2026. The move raises the number of non-stop destinations served from the Bahian capital to 24 domestic and six international points and increases April seat capacity by 28 % year-on-year. Under the new schedule, flights depart in a tight 75-minute wave between 22:40 and 23:55, timed to connect regional northeast markets with São Paulo/Congonhas, Belo Horizonte, Recife and other trunk routes the following morning. GOL executives said the design mirrors the airline’s daytime hub, but taps night-time slots that were previously under-utilised. Internationally, Salvador now sees daily flights to Buenos Aires (EZE/AEP) and five-weekly services to Panama City, Montevideo, Madrid and Lisbon. VINCI confirmed negotiations are under way to secure a twice-weekly service to Miami for the northern-hemisphere winter. The expansion cements Salvador’s status as GOL’s principal northeast connecting platform and provides corporates with same-day return options previously only possible via Recife or Fortaleza. Travel buyers operating oil-and-gas, agribusiness or call-centre workforces in Bahia are expected to benefit most from the denser network and later departure windows that reduce overnight costs. Airport CEO Júlio Ribas said that, alongside airside improvements, the terminal has rolled out facial-recognition boarding gates and fast-track lanes for Certified Corporate Traveller (CCT) programme members, speeding connections to under 45 minutes. Further infrastructure upgrades—including a refurbished arrivals hall and enlarged immigration booths—are scheduled to complete before July, in time for the high-season inbound from Europe.
