Naples’ EAV rail staff confirm four-hour walkout for 13 April
Regional rail operator EAV has confirmed that services on its Circumvesuviana, Cumana and metro lines will be disrupted on Monday, 13 April, after the Orsa union called a strike from 11:00 to 15:00. The action follows weeks of tension over delayed welfare payments, staff shortages and alleged safety lapses. EAV—which carries around 125,000 passengers daily in the Naples metropolitan area—says it will run a minimum service during the legally protected peak periods but warns of cancellations outside those windows. Replacement buses are limited and heavy traffic is expected on the A3 motorway as commuters switch to private cars. The strike is inconveniently timed for cruise lines operating Monday turnarounds in Naples: crew changes and shore-excursion transfers rely on the Circumvesuviana line to Pompeii and Sorrento. Travel-management companies are advising corporate groups to pre-book buses or use ride-sharing apps permitted to operate inside the port area. EAV management says negotiations will resume on Wednesday and notes that failure to reach agreement could trigger a 24-hour strike later in the month. Employers with posted workers in Campania should monitor updates on the @EAVCampania X feed and budget for taxi reimbursements.
