The Board of The Shannon Airport Group has appointed Ray O’Driscoll as permanent Chief Executive Officer, effective 28 April. O’Driscoll has served as interim CEO since September 2025 and previously headed the Group’s commercial property arm, where he spearheaded redevelopment of Shannon’s business parks into a €14 billion economic cluster. His confirmation comes as Shannon experiences double-digit passenger growth and prepares to lobby government for investment in a parallel taxiway and terminal upgrades. Business groups in Limerick and Galway argue that a stronger Shannon is vital to rebalancing Ireland’s east-west economic divide and easing capacity pressure at Dublin Airport. For global-mobility professionals, leadership stability at Shannon signals continuity in the airport’s aggressive route-development strategy. Since January the airport has secured four new Ryanair routes and extended Aer Lingus’ Boston service to year-round, offering multinationals like Analog Devices and Eli Lilly better links to US headquarters. O’Driscoll has pledged to “double down on sustainable growth”, fast-tracking installation of fixed electrical-ground-power units and expanding the airport’s popular US pre-clearance facility to handle private jets.
