Tyrol green-lights eight-hour Brenner Pass blockade on 30 May
Tyrol’s administrative court has authorised a citizens’ protest that will shut the A13 Brenner motorway and side roads for up to eight hours on 30 May, halting the main north-south freight and tourist artery between Austria and Italy. The closure collides with the Pentecost holiday return rush and could paralyse logistics flows that carry 2.5 million lorries a year. Companies are being advised to divert freight, allow extra lead time and alert business travellers to possible diversions and airport transfer delays.
Austria reports decade-low asylum filings as government doubles down on border checks

Minister Gerhard Karner says the decline validates extended border controls and stricter family-reunification limits. Business immigration pathways remain unchanged, but dependants and humanitarian applicants face tougher scrutiny, so companies should allow extra processing time and monitor rule changes tied to the EU Entry/Exit System.
