Czech Republic Overhauls Numeric Codes on Long-Term Visas & Residence Permits

Effective 1 June 2026, Czechia replaced the old purpose codes printed on long-term visas and residence permits with an expanded numeric set. The update clarifies foreign nationals’ work and study rights, supports upcoming EU IT systems and gives employers a cleaner way to monitor compliance. Existing documents stay valid but HR and travel teams should update their reference tables to avoid confusion at borders.
