Anyone with interviews for visas, employee cards or passport renewals had their appointments automatically rescheduled, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed. Examples include the missions in Doha and Luxembourg, which published closure notices ahead of the long weekend. Consular sections will reopen on Tuesday, 7 July, but officials warn of extended processing times this week as back-to-back public holidays (5 and 6 July) generate an application backlog. Applicants with urgent travel needs are advised to contact the ministry’s 24-hour hotline or use on-line filing portals where available. For corporate mobility managers the closure means employee-card collections, legalisations and Czech Visa Centres in third-country hubs are on hold for at least one extra working day. Courier services delivering legalised documents to Prague report that shipments collected on Friday will not arrive before Wednesday due to airline capacity limits over the holiday period. While Jan Hus Day is a fixed public holiday every year, 2026 is the first time it falls on a Monday since the pandemic travel rebound. Immigration advisers recommend building all Czech public-holiday dates into global assignment calendars to avoid last-minute itinerary changes. The Foreign Ministry said it would monitor demand and, if necessary, authorise overtime shifts later in July to clear the spike in residency-permit pick-ups generated by the closure.
