Helsinki Airport adds Luigi’s Italian Pizza as Food Hall revamp continues
Travellers passing through Helsinki Airport’s arrivals hall can now pick up authentic Neapolitan-style slices after Finavia announced the opening of Luigi’s Italian Pizza on 16 July. The new outlet, situated in the landside Food Hall next to arrivals, expands the airport’s fast-casual offering and is open to the general public—useful for meet-and-greet drivers and business visitors without an air-side pass. Luigi’s imports flour and fior di latte mozzarella directly from Italy, mirroring the supply chain of its air-side restaurant at Gate 40 but with a broader menu of classics and seasonal specials aimed at high-volume lunchtime traffic. To entice local office workers and flight crews, Finavia is offering two hours of complimentary parking in the adjacent P1 and P2 garages when diners scan a QR code at checkout. The initiative is part of a wider commercial-area overhaul designed to position Helsinki as the preferred Northern European transfer hub for long-haul passengers. Airport commercial chief Nora Immonen told Finavia News that post-pandemic travellers expect “street-level quality and price transparency inside terminals”, and that food-and-beverage revenue is critical to funding sustainability upgrades amid capped aeronautical charges. For mobility professionals the message is two-fold: first, Helsinki continues to differentiate itself through passenger-experience investments rather than discount pricing—useful when advising executives on preferred routing between Europe and Asia; second, the landside focus reflects Finavia’s strategy of generating non-aeronautical income even if transfer volumes dip during geopolitical shocks. Companies with staff based in Vantaa may find the free-parking lunch deal a handy perk for informal meetings. The opening takes Finavia’s 2026 tally of new F&B outlets to six, with further announcements expected ahead of the winter leisure peak.
