The Department of Airspace Control (DECEA) has issued a NOTAM advising that its flight-plan platforms SIGMA and FPL-BR will be unavailable from 03:05 UTC to 04:05 UTC on September 27 2026 due to a software upgrade. The notice, published on AISWEB in the early hours of September 25, affects all airlines filing flight plans within Brazilian airspace. Operations and dispatch centres must submit, amend or cancel plans outside the maintenance window to avoid automatic rejections. Crews with departures during the outage should coordinate contingency procedures with their operations control and may need to carry printed flight plans approved in advance. While the one-hour downtime falls during Brazil’s late-night lull, cargo operators out of Viracopos and overnight red-eye passenger services from the northeast to Europe could face marginal schedule adjustments. ANAC and airport slot coordinators have been informed; no commercial flights are expected to be cancelled, but minor delays are possible if the outage overruns. The upgrade is part of DECEA’s wider modernisation programme to integrate Brazilian systems with the new ICAO Flight & Flow Information for a Collaborative Environment (FF-ICE) standard ahead of the 2027 regional deadline. Airlines should expect additional test windows later this year.
