Austria Ends Automatic Temporary-Protection Status for Military-Aged Ukrainian Men
Austria’s government has amended its Temporary-Protection Regulation so that Ukrainian men subject to conscription will no longer receive automatic protection and work rights, unless they can prove exemption or completed service. The rule applies to arrivals since 1 August 2026 and aligns with a new EU option. Employers will need to verify military-service documents before hiring newly arrived Ukrainian males.
