ILPA has also published revised ‘Student Sponsor Guidance’ dated 19 October 2026, updating licence-application steps and sponsorship duties in line with October Immigration Rule changes. Key points include mandatory digital record-keeping of students’ eVisa status and earlier deadlines for enrolment reporting. Higher-education institutions must now verify each student’s eVisa via the UKVI ‘View and Prove’ portal before issuing a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. Failure to do so could lead to course-start delays that cascade into accommodation contracts and part-time work permissions. The guidance also reintroduces an attendance-monitoring threshold of 80 %, replacing temporary pandemic relaxations. Universities are rushing to update learning-management systems to flag breaches automatically, while corporate sponsors funding MBA programmes should note that study interruption now triggers an immediate Home Office report. With January 2027 intake CAS allocations already underway, registrars and global-mobility teams sponsoring employees on ‘executive MBAs’ should ensure compliance workflows reflect the tighter timelines.
