The customs post has recently upgraded to 100 % X-ray inspection of courier consignments under 50 kg, narrowing the fast-track channel often used for door-to-door household-goods shipments.
Mobility stakeholders should advise assignees relocating through Viracopos to separate strictly personal items from any commercial samples and to carry invoices and proof of ownership. Failure to prove end-use can result in seizure, fines of up to 50 % of the goods’ value, and delays to residence registration, which in Brazil depends on presenting a cleared baggage receipt.
