The global network of UK Visa Application Centres (VACs) is in the final phase of a transition from long-time operator TLScontact to VFS Global. According to an update published on 28 December, the switchover began in September 2024 and will conclude in January 2025, covering more than 240 locations.
UK Visas & Immigration says the new contract will cut average passport-collection times to 20 minutes and expand optional premium services. While most applicants will notice only cosmetic changes—new booking portals, branding and reception staff—some will have to attend a different city because VFS has rationalised the network. In practice, applicants who start an application with TLScontact but are biometrically enrolled by VFS will see their data transfer automatically; no re-submission is required. Fee levels, decision times and the underlying immigration rules remain unchanged.
Mobility managers should update internal guidance, remind staff to bring printed appointment confirmations (as QR codes may differ), and factor in possible teething issues during the final handover week in early January.
