Airline policy watchers take note: as of 2 February 2026 Virgin Australia has overhauled its carry-on baggage rules and, in a sweetener to passengers, launched a month-long discount on its extra-legroom Economy X product.
Under the new rules, Economy passengers are limited to one piece weighing up to 8 kg, down from the previous two-piece 14 kg allowance. Economy X, Business Class and Velocity elite members may still bring two pieces up to a combined 14 kg, plus a personal item.
