Speaking after a closed-door meeting with Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira on 4 April, Senator Nelsinho Trad (PSD-MS) said the government is negotiating safe-passage corridors with Jordan and Saudi Arabia to extract the remaining 162 Brazilians trapped by airspace closures in Israel, Lebanon and the Gulf. Trad, who heads the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, warned that commercial routes may remain disrupted for weeks despite a tentative ceasefire announced overnight. According to an internal Itamaraty cable, seen by Destaque On, Brazil is requesting 14-day visa-overstay fee waivers for citizens unable to depart on schedule. Gulf Cooperation Council states have signalled willingness to grant rolling extensions similar to those applied during Covid-19. The Foreign Ministry will also charter an Airbus 330 MRTT from the air force to run a Tel Aviv–Brasília relief flight “as soon as the security situation allows.” Global mobility teams with personnel in the region should register travellers on the Itamaraty’s ‘Brasileiros no Exterior’ platform (brasileirosexterior.itamaraty.gov.br) to receive evacuation notices and ensure passports have at least two blank pages for emergency exit stamps that some border posts still require.
