Dubai Consulate Tightens Personal Visa Verification Rules for Nepali Workers
The Nepali Consulate-General in Dubai has restricted ‘personal visa’ verification to five specific categories after a spike in complaints from stranded or exploited workers. UAE employers will now need stronger documentation and more lead-time when hiring Nepali staff outside the formal recruitment-agency system, while job-seekers who cannot meet the new criteria must use Nepal’s official Foreign Employment Permit route instead. The policy is expected to reduce visa fraud but could slow mobilisation for projects that rely heavily on Nepali labour.
