Digital ID Leap: Signius Adds mObywatel Verification, Paving Way for EU Wallet
Polish e-signature provider Signius has integrated the government’s mObywatel mobile ID into its Know-Your-Customer workflow, letting corporate users confirm identity and issue advanced electronic signatures with a single tap. Announced 16 June, the feature targets HR, banking and leasing firms that must onboard staff or clients remotely while meeting stringent anti-fraud rules. mObywatel has 12 million active users—nearly one-third of Poland’s population—making it the de-facto national digital credential. By embedding the SDK, Signius removes the need for video calls or manual document uploads; the app shares verified personal data after a once-only biometric login. The process is compliant with eIDAS and prepares both parties for the upcoming European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI), due to enter Polish pilot later this year. For global-mobility teams, the move could speed up employment contract signing for inbound assignees who secure a PESEL number and activate mObywatel shortly after arrival.

VisaHQ can step in at the earlier travel-document stage, giving corporate mobility managers and individual assignees an online hub for Polish visas and residence-permit support; its portal at https://www.visahq.com/poland/ lists up-to-date requirements, processing times and courier options, ensuring that when newcomers land and activate mObywatel their legal entry paperwork is already squared away. By pairing VisaHQ’s immigration know-how with Signius’s one-tap e-signature flow, companies can create an end-to-end digital onboarding stack that is both compliant and frictionless.

It also gives Polish companies hiring remote talent within the EU a harmonised pathway once the EUDI wallet becomes cross-border-capable in 2027. Signius says demand for digital identity proofing has surged 30 percent year-on-year, driven by hybrid work and stricter labour-law audits. Early adopters include a Kraków-based BPO centre that processes 500 new employee files a month, cutting onboarding time from five days to less than 24 hours. Observers note that Poland is positioning itself as a regional test-bed for secure digital public services, an advantage for multinationals relocating staff to its tech hubs in Warsaw, Wrocław and the Tri-City.
