Philippine e-Passport renewal centres in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to shut on 30 June
Filipinos in the UAE planning to renew their passports will need to book appointments directly with the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Philippine Consulate in Dubai after 30 June 2026. An advisory issued on 25 June confirms that the VFS Global Philippine ePassport Renewal Centres (PaRC) located at Abu Dhabi’s World Trade Center Mall and Dubai’s Wafi Mall will cease operations at the end of the month. From 1 July, all passport applications, renewals and data amendments must be handled by the diplomatic missions.

For Filipino residents unsure how these changes might affect their UAE visa status or upcoming travel plans, VisaHQ can help by providing up-to-date guidance on entry requirements, document checklists and fast-track solutions. Visit the dedicated UAE page (https://www.visahq.com/united-arab-emirates/) to access free eligibility tools and live support that can keep your journeys on schedule while your passport is being renewed.

Unclaimed passports processed by VFS until the closure date will be transferred to the respective mission for collection. The embassy did not specify a reason for terminating the five-year outsourcing arrangement, but insiders cite a forthcoming transition to next-generation biometric passports that require on-site capture of iris and facial-recognition data that VFS booths cannot accommodate. The change affects roughly 650,000 Filipino residents – the UAE’s second-largest expatriate community – many of whom relied on VFS for its extended evening hours and mall locations. Mobility managers should anticipate longer lead-times this summer: the embassy warns that July appointment slots are already 85 % filled. Companies rotating OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) on short-term project visas should encourage staff to check passport validity now and make emergency renewal bookings. The embassy is working with Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) to ensure that workers whose passports are held up in the transition do not overstay UAE residence-visa renewal windows. Applicants with urgent travel can request an “extension sticker” valid for one year, but only before their current passport expires.
