Vienna Airport’s premium VIENNA Lounge has become the first facility ever to win Priority Pass’s European “Lounge of the Year” accolade three years running. The award, based on more than 700,000 member reviews, was presented on 1 July 2026 by Collinson International CEO Christopher Evans to Flughafen Wien Chief Operating Officer Julian Jäger. The 2,500 m² lounge combines Viennese-inspired interior design, regional cuisine curated by the DoN catering group, and art reproductions supplied by the Leopold Museum. In 2025 the VIENNA and SKY lounges handled over one million guests—a figure likely to rise as new long-haul routes bring additional premium traffic. Why it matters for mobility managers: Corporate travellers transiting Vienna can leverage the accolade to justify routeings via VIE where lounge quality is essential for employee well-being on tight schedules. The recognition may also push competing hubs in the DACH region to upgrade their own facilities, raising the overall service baseline for business flyers. Flughafen Wien says the lounge’s success underlines its broader strategy of enhancing non-aviation revenue streams while positioning the airport as a ‘sense-of-place’ gateway to Austrian culture. Upcoming Terminal 3 expansion plans include additional premium spaces built on the same design philosophy. Travel buyers should note that access is granted through Priority Pass, certain airline status tiers and selected business-class tickets; bulk-purchase lounge passes may yield volume discounts for large mobility programmes.
