LATAM Adds Five-Weekly São Paulo–Punta Cana Flights Ahead of Peak Leisure Season
In a second network expansion inside 24 hours, LATAM on 9 July confirmed the start of five-weekly Airbus A320 services linking São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU) with Punta Cana (PUJ). Flights LA 8082/8083 operate Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, leaving GRU in the early afternoon and returning overnight to capture southbound connections across Brazil. Although marketed as a leisure route, the Dominican Republic’s growing free-trade zones make the flight relevant to Brazilian textile and medical-device exporters who until now relied on multi-stop routings through Panama or Miami. LATAM estimates that 18 % of seats will be sold in its Premium Business cabin during shoulder periods, reflecting rising corporate demand. Brazilian citizens can enter the DR visa-free for up to 60 days but must complete the electronic “e-Ticket” immigration form and pay a USD 10 tourist card, now embedded in the ticket price.

Should passengers need help completing the e-Ticket form—or require visas or travel documentation for onward legs to the United States, Europe or elsewhere—VisaHQ’s Brazil portal provides step-by-step guidance, document checklists and expedited processing options, letting travelers bypass red tape and focus on their journey.

Travellers continuing to the United States should allow extra connection time: U.S. CBP Pre-Clearance in Punta Cana is currently processing international-to-international transfers only three days per week. For mobility coordinators the new flight adds capacity ahead of Brazil’s spring school holidays and avoids the slot-constrained São Paulo–Cancún corridor. Introductory round-trip fares begin at BRL 3,900, with free date changes for tickets issued before 15 August. The addition raises LATAM’s international departures from Guarulhos to 168 per week, edging past 2019 records and intensifying competition with GOL’s Miami and Orlando expansions announced earlier this month.
