Portugal visa centres in Brazil introduce same-day walk-ins for students and family reunification from 20 July 2026
From 20 July 2026, VFS Global has scrapped mandatory online appointments for three Portuguese visa types in Brazil—higher-education, EU-family and family-reunification visas—allowing applicants to submit biometrics and documents on a walk-in basis. The change eases severe backlogs ahead of the European academic year and gives corporate mobility teams more flexibility when relocating students and EU-family dependants. Other visa categories still require advance bookings.
