Park Island Transport Company will suspend or replace several sailings on its Ma Wan ferry network tomorrow (22 July 2026), according to the same Transport Department special notice issued late on 21 July. Outbound services from Ma Wan to Central at 17:00 and 19:30, and the corresponding Central–Ma Wan returns at 17:30 and 20:00, will be replaced by Citybus route NR338S. The morning Ma Wan–Tsuen Wan run at 08:10 and the 08:30 Tsuen Wan–Ma Wan return are cancelled. The operator cited operational resourcing and expected inclement weather as reasons for the temporary reshuffle. Commuters and expatriate residents who rely on the ferry to reach Hong Kong Island’s business core are advised to factor an additional 15–20 minutes into their journeys during the evening peak. The alternative bus route will connect Ma Wan directly with Central’s Exchange Square, but capacity will be limited to single-deck vehicles due to height restrictions on Tsing Ma Bridge. From a corporate-mobility standpoint, the disruption highlights the continued fragility of Hong Kong’s outlying-island transport links. Relocation providers housing staff on Park Island or Discovery Bay should build multimodal contingency plans into relocation handbooks, especially during typhoon season when fast-ferry cancellations are common. The Transport Department says real-time updates will be pushed through the HKeMobility app and social-media channels should further adjustments be required.
