The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Abuja has announced that a fresh registration window will open on 25 September 2026 (08:00–14:00 CEST) for Schengen-, long-term-visa and residence-permit applicants, after a technical fault forced the cancellation of the original 15 September draw. Under the embassy’s e-mail-lottery system, all requests received within the four-hour window are fed into an automated tool that randomly assigns appointment slots. The mission stresses that multiple e-mails or messages sent outside the designated period will be discarded, a rule designed to keep the process transparent and curb the influence of visa brokers. The Abuja post is one of Czechia’s busiest consular sections in sub-Saharan Africa, handling student, work and family-reunion cases from across Nigeria as well as several neighbouring states. Because Schengen-area demand has rebounded sharply since the pandemic, Czech authorities introduced a lottery mechanism to manage capacity and prevent overnight queues and touting. For corporate mobility managers the reset is a double-edged sword: it brings clarity on when new dates will become available but also compresses an already-tight autumn timeline. Companies with Nigerian assignees destined for Czech projects in Q4 should gather complete documentation now (notably proof of accommodation, medical insurance and apostilled certificates) and be prepared for a seven-day wait after the registration closes before individual dates are confirmed. The embassy advises applicants to consult the official registration rules and avoid third-party agents who promise preferential treatment. Organisations found to have submitted duplicate or fraudulent entries risk being black-listed in future rounds.
