An Garda Síochána has begun a multi-layer security operation around Dublin Castle as Ireland hosts an informal meeting of EU Transport Ministers on 20–21 September. Castle Street, Ship Street Little and Ship Street Great have been sealed off to vehicular and pedestrian traffic and will remain closed until the end of December as part of Ireland’s rotating EU Council presidency logistics plan. Delegations are transiting through Dublin Airport, with Garda motorcycle escorts scheduled along the Ballsbridge–Dublin Castle corridor between 18:00-19:00 on Sunday and 08:30-09:30 on Monday. While the airport itself continues normal operations, travellers have been warned to add at least 45 minutes to peak-hour journeys to Terminals 1 and 2, and to monitor live traffic feeds for rolling road blocks that may appear with little notice. The Irish Aviation Authority has imposed temporary restricted airspace (TRAs) over the venue cluster, meaning commercial drone flights and some aerial survey work are prohibited. UAS detection systems are in place and breaches will attract investigation and possible prosecution. Corporate mobility teams planning marketing footage, asset-inspection or construction-site imaging in central Dublin should reschedule. Although the event is brief, its timing at the start of the working week magnifies the impact on commuters, business visitors and expats moving household goods into the capital. Relocation providers are advising clients with lease viewings, PPS number appointments or immigration check-ins near the affected routes to allow extra travel time or switch to virtual meetings.
