The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) on 23 September issued a circular inviting local retailers to participate in its “Only in Hong Kong” campaign, designed to showcase exclusive products and experiences to inbound visitors during the fourth-quarter peak. Participating merchants will feature curated offers on the Discover Hong Kong platform and receive promotional support across social-media channels in mainland China and Southeast Asia. The promotion aligns with HKTB’s strategy to lift per-capita visitor spending, which still lags 2018 levels by about 8 per cent despite the recovery in arrivals. Retailers are encouraged to offer limited-edition items or bundled deals that can be redeemed via QR codes to minimise queuing. HKTB will provide participating shops with co-branded signage in English, simplified Chinese and Thai, reflecting a diversified visitor mix. SME operators can apply online until 10 October; selected brands will gain free placement in a digital catalogue distributed through Ctrip and Trip.com. For corporate travel buyers, the scheme offers value-added perks for incentive trips and expatriate onboarding packages. HR departments can bundle shopping credits with welcome packs for new assignees, potentially lowering relocation allowances. The campaign will run from 15 October to 31 December and will be evaluated for extension into Lunar New Year if uptake is strong.
