The forecast projects roughly 20,000 inbound and outbound passengers on 110 international flights during the three-day Mid-Autumn break, rising to 42,000 passengers on 250 flights across the subsequent National Day period—about 3.5 % more than last year. Peak departure windows are expected just after midnight, late morning and late evening, while arrival surges will mirror those times by roughly half an hour. To keep queues manageable, the border police will adjust inspection booths dynamically and pre-deploy English-speaking officers. Additional e-gates have been enabled for eligible foreign passport holders who preregister facial data, a first for the inland hub. Officials are urging travellers to double-check passport and visa validity, allow extra time for security screening and stay informed on destination-country entry rules—especially important for the growing number of students and tech workers transiting through Xi’an on long-haul connections. A 24-hour hotline (12367) will field multilingual enquiries, and passengers facing tight connections can request expedited inspection. For multinational employers operating in Shaanxi’s booming high-tech corridor, the advisory offers planning data that can be fed into travel-approval systems and shuttle scheduling. Airlines are also coordinating with the police to post real-time queue estimates in their mobile apps, giving travellers a better chance of making onward domestic flights.
