CBSA to replace Remote Area Border Crossing permits with mandatory telephone reporting
CBSA web updates published 27-28 September 2026 confirm that the Remote Area Border Crossing permit will be scrapped on 1 December 2026. Travellers entering remote parts of Ontario and Manitoba from the U.S. Northwest Angle will have to report every trip by telephone, ending the one-permit-covers-all convenience of the RABC system.
