An Garda Síochána has issued a detailed operational notice ahead of the informal meeting of EU Health Ministers taking place in Dublin Castle from 30 September to 1 October. Delegations are arriving and departing via Dublin Airport, but the main impact will be in the city centre: Castle Street and both Ship Street Little and Great are closed to traffic and pedestrians through year-end, while short rolling road closures will occur between the airport, Earlsfort Terrace and Dublin Castle during delegate transfers (06:30–07:00 on 30 September; 07:30–08:30 on 1 October). The Garda has coordinated with Transport Infrastructure Ireland and public-transport operators to keep disruption “localised” yet advises motorists and shuttle-bus providers to allow extra time. Corporate travellers with early-morning flights should note that security motorcades may slow access roads to Terminals 1 and 2. Normal airport operations will otherwise continue. In addition, the Irish Aviation Authority has activated Temporary Restricted Airspace (TRA) over event venues and placed Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) detection around the conference perimeter. Commercial drone operators—including construction-site mapping teams and media outlets—must check NOTAMs before flying within central Dublin; breaches will be investigated and may lead to prosecution. For mobility managers moving executives through Dublin this week, the practical steps are straightforward: build 30–45 minutes of buffer into airport transfers, advise ride-share drivers to monitor @gardatraffic on X for live updates, and confirm any commercial-drone bookings with the IAA. Event-driven restrictions of this kind have become more common as Ireland’s EU Presidency calendar accelerates, so organisations should embed real-time traffic-alert subscriptions into their travel-risk programmes. The Garda notice highlights that the wider Presidency security operation will persist until the end of December, implying that short-notice closures could recur whenever ministerial meetings are scheduled.
