Officials have confirmed the launch of nonstop year-round flights between Dubai International (DXB) and Helsinki, replacing the seasonal winter-only service. UAE Ambassador Amna Fikri says the connection will help diversify visitor flows and open new avenues for education, tech and renewable-energy cooperation. Finland currently sends more than 20,000 tourists to the UAE each winter, while outbound UAE traffic to the Nordics is modest. Tourism boards expect the new service—operated four times weekly by a wide-body carrier yet to be named—to level the flow and position Dubai as a hub for Finns transiting onward to Asia and Africa. For mobility departments, the route creates a one-stop option for Emirati students enrolling in Finnish universities renowned for teacher-training and sustainability engineering programmes. Corporate travellers in the cleantech and space-tech sectors, where joint MoUs already exist, will gain direct-flight savings of up to six hours round-trip compared with current connections via Frankfurt or Istanbul. Cargo planners say the wide-body belly capacity will support high-value perishables and electronics trade, complementing Finland’s push to export Arctic-data-centre cooling tech to the Gulf. The service is slated to commence in early December pending final slot approval; tickets go on sale next week.
