Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) published results on 9 October 2026 for four selection rounds held between 24 September and 7 October. The province invited a combined 476 candidates, leaving just three nomination spaces under its 2026 federal allocation of 619. The biggest round—220 invitations on 7 October—targeted healthcare professionals under the Dedicated Health Pathway, requiring a minimum CRS of 302. Earlier draws focused on tech (126 invitations, CRS 304), agriculture (78 invitations, CRS 301) and aviation maintenance (52 invitations, CRS 307). Candidates with Alberta job offers and CLB 7 English outperformed those relying solely on Alberta work experience. With the quota nearly exhausted, employers should expect a pause in fresh invitations until Ottawa releases the 2027 allocations in mid-January. Immigration practitioners warn that AAIP may return in-progress applications if no quota space is available at the time of assessment. The approaching cap highlights the tension between Alberta’s population-growth targets and limited federal nomination spots. Premier Danielle Smith has renewed calls for a larger provincial quota tied to GDP growth, a proposal the federal government is studying alongside similar requests from Saskatchewan and Ontario. Foreign nationals eyeing Alberta should prepare Express Entry profiles now; historically, the province issues residual nominations to candidates already in the pool within days of receiving its new quota.
