The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held Expression-of-Interest Draw #281 on 8 October 2026 and released results on 9 October. A total of 340 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) went out—its 20th selection round of the year. Unlike recent draws that featured a separate ‘top-scoring’ tranche, the province merged two occupation-specific streams for in-province workers with one strategic-recruitment batch. The big winner category targeted educators: 211 LAAs were issued to teachers, early-childhood educators and teacher assistants already employed in Manitoba schools and child-care centres. The move mirrors the province’s workforce-development strategy after Winnipeg School Division reported a 7 percent vacancy rate in K-6 classrooms this fall. Minimum EOI scores ranged from 606 to 718, well below the 740-plus thresholds seen in 2025. A second occupation-specific slice focused on construction trades, awarding 71 LAAs to carpenters, electricians and heavy-equipment operators with ongoing Manitoba employment. The remaining 58 invitations went through the Skilled Worker Overseas stream under a rarely-used strategic recruitment initiative, targeting francophone candidates able to settle in Brandon and Portage la Prairie. Of the 340 invitees, 103 held a valid federal Express Entry profile and therefore stand to receive 600 Comprehensive Ranking System bonus points once nominated. Those candidates will very likely receive an invitation in the next PNP-only Express Entry draw. For employers, the educator-heavy draw is a timely signal that provincial immigration will be used aggressively to fill public-sector shortages. International teachers already in Manitoba on work permits should ensure their credential-assessment files are complete so they can capitalise on the nomination window, which closes 60 days after the LAA.
