Deutsche Bahn Regio has announced an all-day suspension of S-Bahn line S75 between Wartenberg and Ostbahnhof on Sunday, 11 October 2026, to allow emergency track maintenance. Replacement buses will run every 15 minutes, but journey times to Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) and the eastern commercial districts are expected to double. The shutdown coincides with the end of Berlin’s Autumn trade-fair week, prompting concern from exhibitors departing Messe Berlin. DB says the work cannot be postponed because ultrasound inspections revealed micro-fractures in rails near Warschauer Straße. A failure would have mandated an unplanned closure during weekday rush hours. Business travelers connecting from long-distance ICE services at Ostbahnhof are advised to switch to regional express RE1 or use the Ringbahn and Airport Express FEX. Ride-sharing platforms report a 30 % surge in pre-bookings for the affected corridor, and BER authorities expect higher taxi demand between 16:00 and 21:00. Companies with mobility budgets should warn employees about potential delays in reaching flights and arrange earlier hotel check-outs. Travel-management firms such as FCM have issued push notifications recommending a minimum buffer of 90 minutes for transfers between the city center and BER during the works. DB Regio says normal S75 service will resume with the first trains at 04:00 on Monday, 12 October, and that the repairs form part of a €2.1 billion infrastructure-renewal plan co-financed by the federal Transport Ministry.
