Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed a full weekend shutdown of the Piccadilly line between Acton Town and all Heathrow terminals due to scheduled engineering works. No Tube trains are running to the airport from 04:45 Saturday 17 October until the first service on Monday 19 October, impacting both employees and passengers during one of the autumn’s busiest travel weekends. Heathrow Airport urges travellers to allow extra time and switch to alternative modes: the non-stop Heathrow Express from Paddington will run every 15 minutes; Elizabeth line services are operating normally to Terminals 2, 3 and 4; and dedicated rail-replacement buses link Acton Town with all terminals. Local bus routes 105, 111 and 285 accept Contactless and Oyster fares and may be busier than usual. For corporate mobility planners the closure particularly affects early-morning departures, when the Piccadilly line typically carries a high share of shift workers and cost-conscious travellers. Employers should remind staff that Heathrow Express tickets can be booked online at discounted weekend rates and that Elizabeth line trains have ample luggage space but require a change at Paddington or Liverpool Street for National Rail connections. Travellers connecting from Virgin Atlantic’s new Phuket flight this afternoon should note that return services on Monday will be unaffected, but onward commuters arriving Sunday evening will need to use alternative rail or coach links into Central London. TfL says a normal Night Tube service will resume from Friday 23 October.
