Northern Poland will gain its longest non-stop leisure service when Italian carrier Neos begins Boeing 787-9 charters from Gdańsk Airport to the Indian-Ocean island of Nosy Be on 26 April 2026. The programme, unveiled on 10 April by tour operator Itaka, comprises five weekly departures through late May. The 9,500-kilometre sector highlights a shift in Polish outbound tourism towards more exotic, nature-focused destinations. Itaka says demand for long-haul beach products is up 22 % year-on-year, fuelled by a strong złoty and flexible remote-work policies that allow longer stays. For Gdańsk Airport the flights are a strategic coup, showcasing its ability to handle wide-body operations and positioning the Pomeranian region as a gateway for northern and western Poland. Airport management confirmed additional Rescue & Firefighting resources and crew-rest facilities have been arranged to support the 355-seat Dreamliner. Employers should note that Madagascar requires an eVisa on Arrival for Polish nationals. Mobility teams should budget extra processing time at Nosy Be’s Fascene Airport, where biometric systems were recently upgraded but can still bottleneck when multiple charters arrive. If load factors exceed 80 %, Neos and Itaka plan to repeat the rotation in autumn and could extend operations to Poznań next year, signalling broader long-haul charter potential from regional Polish airports.
