Average daily rates, however, remain lower than Spanish and Greek competitors, suggesting room for further yield growth. Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and the Alpine provinces of Trento and Bolzano are recording the highest hotel-booking saturation, while Sicily and Tuscany also exceed the national average. International demand is booming: metasearch data captured by the ministry indicate a 26 percent year-on-year jump in flight searches to Italian airports, with Poland, Germany and Spain the fastest-growing source markets. Air-capacity analytics from OAG corroborate the trend, showing a 14 percent increase in scheduled seats to Italy this summer versus an 8 percent rise for Spain. That additional lift should help offset disruption risks linked to ongoing aviation strikes and the new EES biometric checks. For corporate mobility managers the figures signal tighter hotel availability and higher airfares on key routes into Milan, Rome and Venice through September. Early booking and the use of flexible corporate fares are recommended. Companies operating expat rotations in tourist hotspots may need to negotiate longer-stay rates well in advance or shift personnel to secondary cities. Tourism Minister Gianmarco Mazzi credited a “whole-of-ecosystem effort” by government and industry and said the ministry will launch a digital-nomad welcome portal later this year to capitalise on the momentum.
