Travellers using Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées Airport on 9–10 July face tightened checks after the Hautes-Pyrénées prefect invoked article L226-1 of the Internal Security Code to establish a protection perimeter for President Emmanuel Macron’s regional tour. The decree, signed on 6 July but published on 8 July, allows officers to search pedestrians and vehicles and to refuse entry to anyone declining inspection. The measure covers access roads across four communes and remains in force from Thursday 10:00 to Friday 20:00 local time. France is still at Vigipirate’s highest “Urgence Attentat” level, and prefect Jean Salomon cited the “pre-eminence of the terror threat during official visits” as justification. Airlines have advised passengers to reach the airport at least two hours earlier and expect diversions on the RD936 and RD921a. While the airport handles mostly pilgrim and charter traffic, it also serves Airbus’s industrial plants in Toulouse, meaning the cordon could delay shuttle flights for technicians and executives.
