The Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) has reported 489,965 tourist arrivals in June 2026—down 1.7 % on the same month last year but a marked improvement on the double-digit declines seen in early spring. The data, released on 18 July, show year-to-date arrivals at 1.66 million, 10 % below the 2025 figure yet marginally higher than 2024. Deputy Tourism Minister Kostas Koumis hailed the numbers as evidence that "the weaker performances in March and April, mainly driven by Middle-East geopolitical tensions, now belong to the past." The United Kingdom remained the dominant source market at 33 % of total visitors, while Poland and Israel posted the fastest recovery rates. For corporate mobility managers, the softer decline signals greater seat availability on key European routes at potentially favourable fares. Airlines have already announced extra frequencies for the August peak, and hoteliers report forward bookings running at 82 %—an eight-point rise on May. Destination-service providers say relocation housing around Limassol is again tight, suggesting expatriate project deployment is picking up. Koumis also pointed to the government’s ongoing airport-modernisation programme and marketing push in Scandinavia and the Gulf as supportive factors. Should the Schengen bid advance this autumn, industry stakeholders predict an additional 5–7 % uplift in business-traveller numbers due to smoother intra-EU movements. Companies planning autumn conferences are advised to lock in venues early and monitor hotel-rate escalations. The ministry will unveil a winter-incentive scheme next month, aimed at airlines willing to maintain shoulder-season flights. That could further stabilise year-round mobility for international staff shuttling between Cyprus and regional hubs.
