Specialist mobility publication TerraTern reports that India’s Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) has moved from pilot to Phase 2, with Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Cochin and Ahmedabad airports beginning hardware installation this month. The Ministry of Civil Aviation aims to bring 20 airports online by March 2027. Launched at Delhi-IGI in 2024, FTI-TTP pre-registers ‘low-risk’ Indian passport holders and OCI card-holders, who submit biometrics in advance and receive a five-year approval. The new phase expands capacity to an estimated 10 million travellers a year, according to ministry projections. The Phase 2 blueprint also proposes reciprocal deals with the US Global Entry and Singapore’s e-IACS programs, potentially giving Indian business flyers automated entry abroad. Officials told TerraTern that memoranda of understanding are “at an advanced draft stage.” Corporate travel managers should start flagging frequent flyers for enrolment; sponsorship letters are no longer required, and the ₹2,000 fee can be expensed as a legitimate business-travel cost. Companies with tight regional connection schedules—IT services firms in particular—stand to gain the most.
