Brazil’s foreign-trade portal to shut down 25–27 July for CNPJ alphanumeric migration
Brazil’s Secretariat for Foreign Trade (Secex) announced on 20 July 2026 that every system linked to the Single Foreign-Trade Portal (Siscomex) will be offline for 48 hours— from 07:00 on Saturday 25 July until 07:00 on Monday 27 July—while technicians migrate databases to the new alphanumeric CNPJ corporate-tax-ID format. The temporary shutdown covers import declarations, export modules, transit manifests and the express-parcel (Remessa) environment used by courier companies. During the outage, importers must revert to paper “DSI-Formulário” processes and exporters to the contingency procedures outlined in Coana Portaria 102/2018. Customs brokers warn that manual paperwork can lengthen clearance to three or four days, potentially delaying just-in-time shipments of automotive parts and critical oil-and-gas equipment. Global mobility teams moving household goods or personal effects into Brazil should note that Siscomex Remessa will also be down. Where urgent diplomatic or corporate relocation shipments cannot wait, the Revenue Service will consider releases under emergency authorisation, but only with supporting justification. Secex recommends that companies advance licence applications and register pre-shipment information no later than Thursday 23 July. Systems are expected to return gradually through Sunday evening, with full production status by Monday morning. Once live, filers will need to input the new alphanumeric CNPJ on all transactions, so HR and mobility departments should verify that their freight-forwarder partners have updated software and data templates.
