In a related move, the Federal Revenue Service (RFB) confirmed late on 20 July 2026 that its Electronic Auction System—used to sell goods seized by customs and to clear unaccompanied baggage held in bonded stores—will be offline on Thursday 23 July between 06:00 and 16:00. The downtime is needed to align the platform’s back-end with Brazil’s forthcoming alphanumeric CNPJ roll-out. Although the auction site is not part of day-to-day passenger processing, freight forwarders often rely on it to bid for mis-declared shipments that clients later regularise. Mobility managers should be aware that any household-effects lots previously scheduled for auction release on 23 July will be rescheduled, potentially adding storage fees. Travellers planning to regularise excess personal goods at airports during that window may face longer lines because staff assigned to auction duties will be redeployed to manual processing desks. The RFB advises travellers carrying high-value items to file the ‘e-DBV’ goods declaration outside the outage period where possible. Once the platform returns, bidders must identify themselves with the new CNPJ string for corporate entities or with CPF for individuals. The RFB said further adjustments might follow in August as other legacy systems are converted.
