Although limited to a humanitarian route, practitioners say the move is a bell-wether for the full withdrawal of visa vignettes and BRPs across work categories by 31 December 2026. Employers who have recruited Ukrainian nationals on three-year visas should note that their staff will no longer receive a BRP at the 30-month extension stage and will instead need to present a share code via the View and Prove service. The update also matters for travel managers: Ukrainian refugees returning from business or personal trips must carry the passport uploaded to their UKVI account or risk secondary inspection if automated systems cannot match records. Employers should circulate guidance on how to generate “update details” codes and reimburse any fees for emergency passport renewals. Free Movement’s tracker, which scans GOV.UK hourly, logged 15 immigration-policy changes on 22 July, including four new House of Commons Library briefings on appeal rights and student fee status that mobility professionals may wish to bookmark.
