Multinationals with facilities in the Corredor del Henares logistics belt have activated contingency plans, moving critical staff to hotels farther from the fire perimeter and shifting shipments to night-time slots when roads are expected to reopen. The emergency comes at the peak of the expatriate relocation season: July is traditionally when foreign assignees arriving for September project start-dates scout for housing. Real-estate agents in Majadahonda and Las Rozas report a spike in last-minute cancellations of viewings as neighbourhoods prepare for possible evacuations. Employers should remind transferees that Spain’s wildfire season now routinely runs into October and that renter’s insurance covering temporary accommodation is strongly recommended. Looking ahead, the Interior Ministry has warned that high winds could push the Burgohondo front closer to key high-speed-rail corridors over the weekend, which would force further rail suspensions.
