Roughly 320,000 Haitians currently hold TPS. The Trump administration moved to terminate the designation last year, but litigation delayed implementation until the Supreme Court ruled last month that courts cannot review TPS decisions. With that barrier removed, ICE leadership has set an arrest quota of 2,000 per day—numbers not seen since the first Trump term. Human-rights groups warn that large-scale removals could destabilize Haiti further and create labor shortages in U.S. caregiving, hospitality and construction sectors that rely on Haitian workers with valid employment authorization through July 31. Employers who have sponsored TPS holders should immediately inventory affected staff, explore alternative visa options (including H-2B or F-1 reinstatement in limited cases) and prepare for sudden workforce attrition.
