EU prolongs temporary protection for Ukrainians until 2028; Finland prepares national implementation
Brussels has prolonged temporary protection for people displaced from Ukraine to 4 March 2028, giving Ukrainians in Finland automatic status extensions and employers four more years of streamlined hiring. New applicants must now show legal exit from Ukraine and compliance with draft rules, while those already in Finland keep existing rights.
