The latest quarterly ‘Passport Reports’ update, released on 14 September 2026, confirms that the United Arab Emirates has retained its place at the very top of the world passport league table. Emirati citizens can now enter 182 countries and territories without applying for a visa in advance—128 offer visa-free entry, 44 grant a visa on arrival or similar streamlined permission, and 10 use an electronic travel authorisation (eTA) system. The breadth of access is most striking across Europe and the wider Gulf. The report notes 100 per cent access across all 46 European destinations, facilitated either visa-free or via eTA. Inside the GCC, UAE nationals already enjoy entirely visa-free movement, and the same is increasingly true across parts of the Middle East, the Caribbean and Oceania. Even in Africa and North America—regions where many Gulf travellers still face paperwork—overall access tops 87 per cent. Analysts attribute the UAE’s meteoric rise in mobility to a decade-long campaign of reciprocal visa negotiations aimed at supporting the country’s economic diversification agenda. Easier outbound travel helps Emirati entrepreneurs scout foreign markets, while reciprocal concessions make it simpler for overseas partners to visit Dubai and Abu Dhabi for trade fairs and investment missions. For international mobility managers, the report underscores two practical points. First, Emirati executives and project teams can be dispatched almost anywhere on very short notice, reducing lead times on cross-border deals. Second, immigration teams should keep checking bilateral conditions—while visa-free entry is granted, permitted length of stay and business-activity rules vary by jurisdiction. Advanced planning is still required for the 16 countries that continue to demand full visas (including the US and Australia) and for trips involving paid work. In parallel, federal agencies are investing in “hyper-fast” passport services at Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports. A viral video on the same day showed an Emirati traveller obtaining a brand-new passport in eight minutes—evidence, officials say, that the government wants documentation to match the passport’s ranking.
