Ireland updates India travel advisory: 14-day registration rule underlined
Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs refreshed its travel advice for India on 14 September, reiterating that holders of long-term, multiple-entry Indian visas must register with the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within 14 days of arrival. The notice also flags continued health-screening measures for arrivals from Ebola-affected regions and warns of sporadic violence in Manipur and along the India-Pakistan border. While the content is largely a rollover, the explicit reminder on the 14-day rule suggests consulates are seeing an uptick in registration-related detentions and fines. Global mobility leads should ensure that Irish (and other EU) staff entering on employment or project visas complete online FRRO registration—even if initial assignment duration is under six months—to stay compliant.
