Logistics companies are also bracing for temporary port closures in Naples and Bari if wind gusts exceed the 40-knot threshold. The weather system coincides with a series of pre-announced local transport strikes, compounding the risk of missed connections. Employers should therefore instruct travellers to maintain flexible tickets and monitor the Protezione Civile app, which pushes geo-located alerts in English. The front is forecast to weaken from Sunday afternoon, but forecasters caution that isolated downpours could persist into Monday morning commuting hours in Calabria and eastern Sicily. Longer-term, meteorologists say the episode signals a shift towards an “autumnal pattern” that is likely to bring more frequent Atlantic disturbances through October—an important consideration for companies scheduling outdoor team-building events or field audits.
