The weekly dashboard—relied upon by employers and relocation firms—now expresses some in-Canada work-permit timelines in weeks rather than days, signalling a push toward clearer client communications. Highlights include a one-week increase for in-Canada and U.S. work-permit applicants (now 16 weeks and 4 weeks respectively) and a notable 50-day drop in U.S. super-visa waits. Visitor-visa times edged up for India (+3 days) and Nigeria (+6 days), while remaining flat in Canada and the Philippines. Study-permit estimates held steady across all regions. IRCC processed 1.83 million temporary-residence files between January and July 2026, yet more than 394,000 remain in inventory. Officials attribute fluctuations to seasonal surges and case complexity—factors the department now lists explicitly on its website. Forward-looking estimates will from now on refresh weekly, a change from the previous monthly cadence. For HR teams, the longer in-Canada extension window means reassessing contract-start dates and downstream health-insurance enrolment. Super-visa sponsors welcoming parents from the U.S. could see faster reunifications, easing caregiving gaps for dual-income families. Conversely, rising visitor-visa waits in key emerging markets may require earlier application launches for December conference travel. Special-program applicants under International Experience Canada and the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel are processed separately; their benchmarks were not updated in this release.
